The Yucatán peninsula contains two states: Yucatán and Quintana Roo and so we have separated our destination pages into the following:

  • Quintana Roo beach resorts - Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Puerto Morelos and Cozumel are some of the destinations on the Riviera Maya.

  • Merida - Yucatán state's capital Merida is a colonial gem with a thriving gay community and is a good spot from which to explore nearby Mayan sites such as Chitzen Itza.
