The area with the most of interest for LGBT visitors and the most nightlife options in Mexico State is the state capital Toluca and the adjoining city of Metepec.
The state capital Toluca (officially Toluca de Lerdo) has charming colonial architecture and a substantial LGBT nightlife scene.
Not just a suburb of Toluca, Metepec offers its own attractions includfing LGBT nightlife and is one of Mexico's "Pueblos Magicos". San Jerónimo Chicahualco is just north of Metepec.
The annual pride parade for Mexico State is held in Toluca, generally in August.
