Everyone knows about Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta as destinations for LGBT travelers. People in the know even go further afield to the Ajijic and Lake Chapala area or the quieter beach towns of the Costalegre. But what about the rest of Jalisco state?
The town of Tepatitlán de Morelos (Tepa for short) is a mid-sized town about an hour's drive from Guadalajara with an annual pride parade and a LGBT nightclub.
Lagos de Morenos is a town of about 150,000 located about 2 hours drive from Guadalajara but is actually much closer to León in Guanajuato. There is an annual pride parade and a bar where the LGBT community gathers. Nearby Encarnación de Diaz also has an annual pride parade and a bar.
The small "pueblo magico" of Tequila is of course well known for its namesake product! Located about an hour and a half from Guadalajara, it is an LGBT welcoming town.
The tiny "pueblo magico" of San Sebastián del Oeste is located about 2 hours drive from Puerto Vallarta, the town has a rich history and is a quiet town but which is welcoming to LGBT visitors.
Towards the coast, the towns of Autlán (full name Autlan de Navarro) and El Grullo are about 3 hours drive from either Guadalajara or Colima. The LGBT communities there each have annual pride parades but we do not know of any nightlife or other options there.
At that moment we are not aware of any places to recommend in Ciudad Guzmán or the other smaller cities of Jalisco. If you know of places, please add them to the map.
