An unparalleled arts scene with a rich offering of LGBT+ themed events and LGBT+ artists

Mexico City has a vibrant arts scene and the LGBT+ community are often at the forefront of the arts. There are many galleries, museums and theaters that feature LGBT+ artists and performers and have themes relevant to the LGBT community.
The visual arts scene explodes in February with the Zonamaco and Material Art Fairs which bring in international artists and galleries and the local gallery scene responds with a huge number of openings and events.
While you'll find drag shows at many bars you'll also find more elaborate performances at the cabarets and performance venues listed below.

Centro Cultural Xavier Villaurrutia
Cultural centre funded by the Mexico City government that offers gallery space, workshops, films, etc. With its Zona Rosa location there is a lot of focus on LGBT art and creators.

Cabaret La Perla
Said to have opened in 1946 (last remodel 1963?), now everyone comes. Drag performers range from pop-divas and traditional señoritas to fierce 200-pounders and refugees from German expressionism. Arrive early (the place is tiny) or wait to get in.

An inclusive space for culture in the fields of performing arts and visual arts, as well as courses, workshops, meetings, seminars and conferences, in addition to side activities that strengthen the image and positioning of social legislation from the arts. They have a theater, café, gallery and terrace.

El Sirenito
Drag show and dinner 4 times weekly. Wednesday evening at 7 pm and Saturday afternoon at 3 pm at La Pescadería in Roma and Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm at the W Hotel in Polanco. Advance reservation needed, contact them by Instagram DM. The drag queens sing live and the full normal restaurant menu is available. They also have a Sirenito Nights event occasionally.

Museo Memoria y Tolerencia

The Memory and Tolerance Museum features exhibits about the Holocaust and other global genocides and regularly features LGBT issues. From Feb to June 2018 they have a major exhibit titled LGBT+ Identidad, amor y sexualidad (LGBT+ identify, love and sexuality)
