Mexico City, Federal District
The Mexican capital is one of the world's largest cities and has a gay scene to match. The heart of the gay scene is the Zona Rosa (the "Pink Zone"), a neighborhood filled with shops, restaurants and tourist hotels.
One thing that surprised me when I went out in Mexico City is that some of the scenes happen earlier than you'd expect. I went past a club in the early evening just to know where it was and found it was already packed. Found out that it was because most locals need to use the Metro to get home and it closes not long after 11pm. Since Mexico City is such a huge sprawling place and people live all over keep that in mind! You may be staying in a convenient hotel in Zona Rosa but the locals probably have a lot further to go.
